The top 10 partner posts on Canadian Accountant in 2025
We present the top 10 articles that in 2025 got accountants thinking and planning for the future, from software to tax to recruitment to AI to open banking
TORONTO, December 28, 2025 – Sponsored content if done correctly can provide readers with information and insights that make their daily lives easier. When it comes to partner posts — which is what we call sponsored content at Canadian Accountant — the best articles are those that offer practical solutions to the challenges facing chartered professional accountants.
Some of these partner posts featured brand-name products used by thousands of CPAs. Others feature new products or services by rapidly developing (and often homegrown Canadian) companies. If you’re looking for solutions you can leverage as an accountant, we present, in reverse order, the top 10 partner posts on Canadian Accountant in 2025.

10. How Canadian accounting firms are governing AI to drive advisory growth
Only two weeks old and already moving up in the top 10 rankings of 2025, this Q&A featured Andrew Kanzer of Xero and Sophie Dillon of Orbit Accountants, on the adoption of AI-powered advisory services at Canadian accounting firms. Sophie is a CPA, CA and co-founder of Orbit who worked for KPMG Ireland before emigrating to Canada, where Orbit has become one of Toronto’s fastest-growing firms.
9. CPA Canada welcomes new board chair and vice-chair
We don’t do a lot of appointment announcements at Canadian Accountant. But CPAs across Canada wanted to learn more about Darrell Jones, FCPA, FCMA and Kevin Regan, FCPA, FCA, the new chair and vice-chair respectively at CPA Canada.
8. Five years post-Covid: Reflecting on accounting’s 'new normal'
In part one of a two-part series, Chad Davis and Josh Zweig, co-founders of LiveCA, talked to Ben Richmond of Xero about current professional practice issues and how to meet the moment as a modern accountant. Spoiler alert: part two of the discussion cracked the top five.
2025 marked one of the most significant elections in Canadian history, one that will be noted in history books and political science texts for years to come. Kudos therefore to Brian McGlynn of Wealth Write.Up for daring to write a topical partner post, featuring four strategic tips during election season for accountants and their clients. No risk, no reward indeed.
6. AI won’t replace accountants — it’ll make them indispensable
Kudos again to Brian McGlynn of Wealth Write.Up, whose second article for Canadian Accountant made the top five most popular articles, even though it was only published in late October. Accounting firms that modernize their tech stacks, invest in Canadian-compliant AI platforms, and focus on high-impact client service, will lead the future, and the author’s investing accounting platform (a Canadian company) certainly ticks all the boxes.
5. Accounting 2030: Exploring the future of the profession
In part two of a two-part chat with Chad Davis and Josh Zweig, co-founders of LiveCA, Ben Richmond of Xero discusses how CPA firms can meet the challenges to come in the next five years, specifically the leveraging of artificial intelligence and AI tools. Sure, “the key to meeting clients' needs is to evolve as a firm alongside them,” may sound obvious, but Chad and Josh then do a deep dive into the concrete examples behind the words.
4. What can Canada learn from Ireland’s corporate tax approach?
CPA Ontario took a provocative position back in August 2025 — as Budget 2025 was in the consultation phase — to argue for a tax regime that would fundamentally change Canada. One might say that CPA Ontario got a little of what they asking for — in the form of the so-called Productivity Super-Deduction. Once the super-deduction is factored in, Canada would have the lowest marginal effective tax rate in the G7, but only if businesses are able to make new investments in a tariff-challenged national economy.
3. Navigating 2025 tax changes: Expert insights from CPA Ontario's expanded Tax Immersion Program
Expert insights from Alex Garber and Haroon Khan of CPA Ontario’s Tax Immersion Program came at just the right time for many CPAs, as this August 2025 partner post provided strong practical advice for the upcoming tax season. It’s still a highly relevant article months later and gives you some insight as well into what the tax immersion program has to offer tax specialists.
2. Combating the shrinking accountant talent pool
Hard to believe, but Ben Richmond’s partner post, first published in July 2024, emerged as the second most popular partner post in all of 2025. The takeaway? Clearly, the accounting profession is still challenged by a shortage of talented labour, and accounting practices continue to face both recruiting and retention problems. It’s a problem for the profession, but are we discussing it honestly?
1. Open Banking: A crucial shift for Canadian accountants
For the third year in a row, Xero earned the top partner post spot of the year with an article that provided useful, timely information, and solutions that didn’t push too hard on the Xero value proposition. With renewed momentum from Budget 2025, and the planned introduction of Phase 1 expected in early 2026, Mike Cascone of Xero does a deep dive into the intersection between accounting and open banking.
And there you have it. Ten articles by brand names that every accountant should know and trust to provide solutions for 2026.
